We are the first charter school

in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania

and located in the state capital of Harrisburg. 

We serve 220 students in grades K-4,

with no more than 22 students in each class.

Our Mission
The mission of the Sylvan Heights Science Charter School is to enhance children's lives through educational experiences that are grounded in a comprehensive, science-driven interdisciplinary program highlighting discovery and creativity.
 

 

What is a Charter School?
A charter school is a public school chartered by the local board of education which functions with its own board of trustees. Pennsylvania passed enabling legislation in the late spring of 1997. Grants to plan charter schools were available beginning in the winter of 1997.
